Knowledge + Love = Success

Past- I used to make smoothies every single morning because I thought it was the only breakfast I could have that would keep me “healthy” (TBH- it got old…QUICKLY!).

Present- this smoothie is a nutrition powerhouse. It tastes AMAZING, fuels my body with antioxidants, and makes me feel on top of the world. I might even add some Purely Elizabeth granola to top it.

How’d you get from past to present? Knowledge and Love. Trust me, it works.

It’s a smoothie…Colbs, you’re getting a little too excited over here.

You bet I am. You see eating a “healthy diet” looks so incredibly different for everyone at different phases in their lives. I used to eat healthy because of fear. You might eat healthy because you want to lose weight. Your parents might eat healthy because they were raised that way. Everyone’s reason is DIFFERENT. That’s why I’m here to give you a little #FoodForThought.

Colbs…Elaborate on these so-called “healthy” foods then, would ya?

Whole foods are exactly what I am referring to. Whole foods are those in their purest form, as close to the way they were when they first got here on earth! Think about it as the cute and innocent baby you see in the stroller at the dog park. I talk about whole foods a lot, I know. Probably sounding a little repetitive by now. But that’s because they are SO important! Whole foods are the foods you want to consume every single day and should be the bulk of every meal. Think about those guys as our preventative medicine for disease. If you fuel your body with preventative medicine everyday, your chances of getting sick in the first place are significantly lowered. Are you still with me?

Let me give you a take for instance. You have an orange that you peel and then you have orange juice. The orange that you peel is a whole food. It grew off of a tree and was transported someway, somehow to get into your hands. Now look at the orange juice… That orange went through lots of plastic surgery to become juice, just to taste better for you! The process it went through included artificial flavoring, additives, extra sugar, all the stuff our body holds on to as FAT! Why take the orange who has been through so much alteration, when we were told that our imperfections from day one made us special?! Sorry for these analogies, they’re probably getting weird by now. But if I had someone explain it to me this way, I think I would’ve been more tuned in much earlier on! Remember, I’m here to help.

Back to the point- imagine living a free life; not following a diet, but truly listening to what your inner self wants. Sounds cliché, right? I honestly didn’t think I’d ever be sitting here typing such a cliché statement either. Being cliché is almost a little too grown up sounding for Colbs. But it is so goddamn true.

Another way to think about it…

You have the vegan, the gluten-free, the paleo, the one who swears by Weight Watchers (“Oprah did it, Oprah is queen of everything!”), the low carb high fat dieters, then the high carb low fat dieters… Feels almost like your drowning in confusion at this point right?

Everywhere we turn, we are constantly bombarded with different diets.

But what if we let those rules go and began using our knowledge on whole foods… Once you become willing and knowledgeable, you CRAVE the foods that leave your body feeling good. It becomes FUN. It becomes positive! Sounds like true love if ya ask me!

Back to the smoothie Colbs… Why do you swear by this smoothie? Why are you actin like this smoothie is your bae? Cuz it is. And I ain’t ashamed. Bae deserves his own post though, don’t ya think?
